If you can afford it, don't live with a roommate.
And if you can't afford it, don't live with a roommate.
It is so not worth it.
Oh, lord, I had to endure a roommate for one year during law school. One year where he would shout across the hall to his buddy at 2 AM about the curry he was cooking (do you know how nauseating curry is at 2 AM?) or the Detroit Tigers. After that... no roommates, ever, became my rule.
Posted by: TPB, Esq. on September 1, 2002 05:35 PMI'm convinced my roommate has a loud and constant sound in his head, as all stereos, televisions, and even his own voice are set at a decibel level so high we get noise pollution complaints from South Africa. The most common word he uses; "HUH?!"
Also, he thinks condiments and toiletries should be "community," and uses the ones I buy liberally, even though he has never bought so much as a pickle or q-tip in the many months he has lived here.
He doesn't even own his own linens or dishes. What he does own is an animal skull collection and a smelly ferret.
I confess, I daydream about poisoning his innocent rodent of a pet sometimes. I just did, right now.
Posted by: Jen on September 12, 2003 05:17 PMRight now I am living with such a needy girl. She cannot be alone. I really don't understand it. I didn't sign a lease so that I could be someone's constant companion and entertain them everytime they're bored.
Not to mention the cat. There is cat hair in the refridgerator! How on earth is that possible?
Life is too short to live with roommates.
Posted by: Jenny on September 18, 2003 01:41 PMI'm 25 and my 21 year old roommate has become rude and mean. I paided for her NSF (check bouce) fees because she couldn't pay rent on time and she told me to 'f-ing get over it, people have bad days.' A couple of months ago I asked to move out and she threaten legal action of $8,000 (she has to sign me off the lease in order for me to not be liable for damages after I vacate). But she refused to sign me off. Now our mutal roomie wants to leave because of her behavior also, we have 6 mos left on the lease, how do we tell her without her freaking out? She has threatened to beat me up for smaller things (ex: she doesn't like my bf, therefore she things it's ok to want to beat me up). I'm afraid if I tell her (which I have to) that she will jump me and ruin as much of my valuable as possible. i also think she's mentally unstable becuase she'll be my best friend one second and want to kick my a** the next.
