Craziness, by the New York Lawyer:
Defendant bites off piece of court officer's ear in courtroom melee!
Which happened the day after a judge helped disarm a ticked-off defendant that snatched the court officer's gun.
Plus, last month, New York Biglaw associates got to feel important for once!
There's a reason I like Boston!
You see a lot of that in court, regardless of where you are. I've been jumped in court by defendants, and I was in the S.D.N.Y. when one of the 1993 WTC defendants tried to attack the judge (he received a startlingly brutal response from the bailiffs). It happens. I'm not saying it's not a bad thing, but I guess I wouldn't be too surprised by seeing it anymore.
